District Panchayati Raj officer among 5 booked for gangrape in UP

Deoria, Sep 9 : A case of gangrape has been filed against five people, including District Panchayati Raj Officer (DPRO) in the Sadar Kotwali area of this district in Uttar Pradesh, police said on Monday.

Additional Superintendent of Police Shishya Pal said here a contractual woman employee had, through an application to the police, alleged that DPRO Om Prakash Pandey, ADPRO Nityanand, GC Dhanesh Yadav, ADO Panchayat Deenanath and Rishikesh Tiwari were mentally harassing her and had also send obscene things to her over phone calls.

The victim had also alleged that after asking her to come somewhere, on August 16, they gangraped her at someone's residence in the city.

Mr Pal said a case against five people, pertaining to gangrape, was registered on Sunday night and further investigation is underway. (UNI)
