Varanasi, Sep 3 : Hundreds of employees of the Multi-Task Service (MTS) at the Sir SunderLal Hospital of the Banaras Hindu University on Tuesday staged a 'dharna' over the demand of unpaid stipend.
The protest affected the functioning of the hospital while patients also had to face much inconvenience. After closing the main entrance of the hospital, the agitators staged a 'dharna' and raised slogans against the administration. Arvind Kumar and several others who were present in the protest said that they have not received their stipend since two months. Many others alleged that their salaries are also tampered with and no action is taken even after complaints to the officials.
The financial situation of their family is extremely bad and there is a crisis for even two square meals a day. It has become difficult to meet daily expenses, they said. Numerous agitating employees have given a warning that if they are not paid their stipend in a speedy manner, they will be forced to intensify their protests. (UNI)
