Ballia, Sep 3 : Liquor worth 70 lakh rupees, which was being peddled to Bihar in a truck was recovered by the police in the Phephna area of this district in Uttar Pradesh, police spokesperson said on Tuesday. The spokesperson here said that Phephna police station in-charge Shashi Mauli Pandey had received information on Monday night that a truck laden with liquor was stationed near Singhpur on the roadside and the alcohol is being peddled to Bihar.
Acting on the information, the station In-charge reached the spot along with a police force. After checking the truck, they recovered 980 boxes of English liquor from the vehicle. The spokesperson added that the truck driver was not present on the spot and the boxes contained 47040 bottles of liquor. The bottles had a label of ‘Heat Premium Whiskey’ on them and are usually sold in Arunachal Pradesh. The truck has been seized by the police and they are trying to locate the liquor peddlers. UNI
