Three policemen suspended as undertrial escapes from court premises

Azamgarh, Aug 21: Three policemen were suspended after an undertrial who had been brought for hearing over allegations of theft at a local court in this district escaped, Superintendent of Police Triveni Singh said here on Wednesday. According to the SP, Jahanaganj (Azamgarh) station's police had brought Ram Awadh and Raj Kumar to the CJM's court for hearing over allegations of theft. During this time, Ram Awadh reportedly gave a slip to two policemen and fled from the court premises. Following the undertrial's escape, the two policemen started a search for him but they could not locate him even after an hour. After their efforts went in vain, they informed the senior officials.

After which senior police officials reached the court premises and started an intensive checking drive but till late evening, police could not nab the accused. Police teams are currently at work to locate the whereabouts of the absconding thief while the two policemen who had brought the undertrial for hearing in the court have also been interrogated and probe is on in the matter. The SP further said SI Ram Bahadur Yadav, Head Constable Uma Shankar Singh, constable Ajay Kumar have been suspended in this matter. UNI
