New Delhi, Aug 16: Continuing the attack on Yogi Adityanath government over crimes against women and poor law and order situation, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Friday said Uttar Pradesh government has completely failed to protect women and asked, "How long will this last"?
Referring to a number of issues related to Uttar Pradesh, Ms Priyanka said, while tagging a media report that gangrape and murder of 16 year old girl in Tikayatnagar in Barabanki district, "has shaken all of us".
"The government of Uttar Pradesh has completely failed to stop crime against women. How long will this last?", she asked.
According to reports, the girl was abducted, gangraped, murdered and her body dumped in a drain on Wednesday.
The reports further said the girl's legs and arms were broken and that she was stabbed even in her private parts.
In another tweet, criticising the Uttar Pradesh government, the Congress general secretary alleged that when the BJP government is in power, criminals have no fear.
Referring to another report about the BJP government planning to withdraw seven cases against MLA Sangeet Som, an accused in the Muzaffarnagar riots, Priyanka said, "Court has no say. When it's the BJP government, why should the criminals fear? Kuldeep Singh Sengar, (accused of rape and murder attempt of a teenage girl in Unnao) will be given protection. Cases against Sangeet Som will be dropped. Under these circumstances, will criminals be afraid?" (UNI)
