Lucknow, Aug 15 : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said Uttar Pradesh has been marching ahead in the past two years of BJP rule and soon aspirations of the 23 crore population in the state would be fulfilled.
Congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their courageous move on abrogation of Article 370, Mr Yogi said, "At last, the BJP fulfilled its promise of one nation, one law after 73th year of Independence." "UP was a front runner in the Independence movement and the youth of the state should take inspiration from the freedom fighters to serve the nation," he said.
The Chief Minister was addressing the gathering after unfurling the national tricolour at Vidhan Bhawan on the occasion of the 73nd Independence Day.
Mr Yogi said the Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj and Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas in Varanasi have created history of sorts in the state when such big events were held smoothly without any incidents.
"Over 24 crore pilgrims and tourists attended Kumbh while over 7,000 foreign delegates attended the Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas, " he said. Besides, planting 22 crore saplings in a day on August 9 last also made a record in the world.
This Independence Day, Mr Adityanath said, should not be termed an 'individual or political Independence' but it should be for the entire population, particularly for those who are last on the line of the development. "We have done a lot in this short period but still more is required to make the schemes and project reach the last person of society," he said, while adding that UP is the biggest state of the country hence it has more responsibility to fulfill to take India in the era of development.
Reiterating Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to provide home and employment to all by 2022 , Yogi Adityanath said UP has already topped in the country in implementing central sponsored schemes including in PM Awas, toilets and Swachh Bharat Mission.
"In past over one year the state has achieved a big milestone by attracting investments of over Rs 1,25,000 which will provide additional 5 lakh jobs in the state," he said.
He also mentioned about the benefit of the skill development programmes which was helping the youths to get jobs of their liking.
On the occasion of several state ministers including CM Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dr Dinesh Sharma and senior officials were present. The government has announced Mukhyamantri Utkrisht Seva Police Medals to five police personnel in the state.
The award would be given to DG jail Anand Kumar, DIG Prayagraj K P Singh, deputy SP(STF) Raj Kumar Mishra, Sub inspector (Saharanpur) Adesh Tyagi, and constable (Chandauli) Brajesh Kumar. On the occasion UP government has also announced to release 73 prisoners from different jails in the state.
In Lucknow, Governor Anandiben Patel hoisted the national flag at the Rajbhawan, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav at the state party office and UP BJP president Swantrantra Deo Singh at the BJP state headquarters.(UNI)
