Two miscreants held during theft attempt in UP

Meerut, Jul 25: Two miscreants were arrested in a police encounter while the duo was attempting theft at a house in the Nauchandi area of this district in Uttar Pradesh, police spokesperson said on Thursday.

A police Inspector and a miscreant were injured during the encounter. The spokesperson said here that two miscreants entered Shastri Nagar resident Anil's house with intent of committing theft, late Wednesday night.

Upon receiving information, Nauchandi In-charge Inspector Tapeshwar reached the spot with a police force and tried to arrest the thieves. Meanwhile, the duo opened fire at the police in which Mr Tapeshwar was injured.

A miscreant Imran was injured in the retaliatory fire opened by the cops. Imran was arrested along with his aide Khushhal. A country-made pistol and several cartridges were recovered from the possession of the accused. The injured Inspector and miscreant have been admitted to a hospital. Both the thieves are residents of the Lisadi gate area. (UNI)
