Rae Bareli, May 5: A day before the polling in the VVIP Rae Bareli constituency, Congress on Sunday complained to the Election Commission on misuse of ambulance and other government vehicles by BJP and its candidate Dinesh Pratap Singh.
UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi is contesting for Rae Bareli where she is being challenged by one of her staunch one-time supporters and Congress MLC Dinesh Pratap Singh, who is now the BJP candidate.
In a written complaint to the EC on Sunday, district Congress president VK Shukla alleged that the BJP candidate was using ambulances and government vehicles to transfer advertising material on Sunday.
He said police had seized one such vehicle in Uchahar area but no action had been taken yet.
The letter also stated that BJP candidate should not be given the liberty of an MLC as he joined the BJP.
Apprehending large scale booth capturing by the BJP in tomorrow's polling, the Congress district president demanded stern action against the BJP candidate and urged the authorities to hold a free and fair poll in Rae Bareli. (UNI)
