Lucknow, Apr 18 : Amid reports of malfunction of EVMs in several booth in the early hours of polling, the voting was underway in eight Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh with around 10.76 per cent of polling 'recorded till 9am.
EC officials here said that the polling percentage was around 10.76 per cent in the first two hours of polling.They claim that the polling was total peaceful without any incident so far. They admitted that reports also said that several EVMs had to be replaced during to technical fault.
However it has been reported that Bulandshahr Lok Sabha seat witness malfunctioning of around 25 EVMs. But all were replaced immediately without affecting the polling. Officials said that due to late night thunder storm in Bulandshahr and adjoining area led to some problem but the polling commenced in a smooth manner.
Voters were much enthused to exercise their franchise and were seen reaching their respective booths well before the start of the polling at 7am. Long queues were witnessed in several booths of Amroha, Nagina, Agra, Mathura and Bulandshahr Lok Sabha seats.
Till 0900 hours polling percentage was 12.2 per cent in Nagina, 10.72 pc in Amroha, 11.40 pc in Bulandshahar 7.60 per cent in Aligarh, 12.30 in Hathras , 8.20 in Mathura, 11.36 in Agra and 11.05 in Fatehpur Sikri.UNI
