Lucknow, Apr 12 : As many as 152 candidates were in the fray for fourth phase of polls in Uttar Pradesh, to be held on April 29, for 13 seats.
According to the EC sources, on the last date of withdrawals on Friday, four candidates withdrew their nominations.
As many as 253 candidates had filed nominations in which 97 papers were rejected in the scrutiny while four withdrew thus leaving 152 candidates in the fray.
Kheri seat had the highest number of 15 candidates followed by 14 in Shahjahanpur, Kanpur, Akbarpur,and Hamirpur respectively, 13 in Mishrikh and Etawah, 11 each in Hardoi and Jhansi, 10 in Kannauj, nine in Unnao and Farrukhabad and five in Jalaun.
Meanwhile, in the Nighasan assembly polls , seven candidates were in the fray.
In the fifth phase of polls in the state for 14 seats, the number of candidates who filed their nominations rose to 44 after 23 filed their papers.
Former Union minister and Congress candidate Jitin Prasada filed his nominations from Dhaurahra seat.
The last date for filing of nominations in the fifth phase is April 18 .
