Agency News

Deoband (Saharanpur), Apr 7 : The opposition Mahagathbandhan in Uttar Pradesh comprising Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) hit out at BJP on Sunday claiming that a new government would be formed at the Centre after Lok Sabha elections. The leaders of the alliance appealed to the voters not to waste their vote by supporting Congress as they are two sides of the same coin.

A joint rally by the three allies here lambasted Prime minister Narendra Modi for terming the alliance as Sharab (liquor) and claimed that BJP was afraid of this alliance. The maiden rally, held near a private medical college here, attracted huge crowd with supporters of all the three political parties held photos of their leaders in their hand.

But surprisingly, several rallies also carried the photographs of Chandrashekhar alias Ravan. Mayawati termed Ravan to be an agent of BJP. Ravan, a dalit leader from Saharanpur has announced to contest Lok Sabha elections against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi. BSP president Mayawati in her speech criticised the Congress most, saying the alliance will give jobs rather than Rs 12,000 as promised by Congress.

"After Chai wala now PM has turned Chowkidar. But in this elections no drama would be tolerated as people have known their real face in the past 5 years", she said. Though she claimed that alliance would win most of the seats in the state but also claimed that if EVMs are not tampered, then no way BJP can win in the country.

"The role of the Congress is also anti people during their decade old rule and now they are showing concern for the poor. Can Rahul say what her grandmother did for eradicating poverty," Mayawati said while criticised the Congress's NYAY policy saying only jobs will end poverty.

She said that BJP was afraid of the alliance hence have started doing drama. "The acche din promised by BJP was fake and only during the last five years it was the boom time for some selected industrialists who were benefited with their policies", she alleged.

The BSP president also said that the Pulwama attack was the failure of the Modi government and it was unfortunate that the BJP trying to take advantage of the martyrs. SP president Akhilesh Yadav announced that a new government with a new Prime Minister is in offing after the elections. "People of the country will teach BJP a lesson while Congress would also not get any support to form the government," he said.

Mr Yadav said the BJP government has failed in all the fields with demonetisation and GST have broken the backbone of the poor and the trader. He also appealed to the voters not to support the Congress in the fight against the BJP as they too are equally responsible for poverty and backwardness of the country.

However, countering BJP's claim on development in Uttar Pradesh during the past two years, Akhilesh claimed that BJP was just taking the credit of the works done by the previous BSP and SP governments. "In past two years the UP BJP government did nothing but took credit of the works started by the previous governments whether it is in power sector, roads, metro rails, health and sugarcane industry," he claimed.
RLD chief Ajit Singh, who is contesting from Muzaffarnagar Lok Sabha seat, was more vocal against BJP and did not mention anything against Congress, as the party was supporting him. He said that BJP was conspiring against the legacy of Choudhary Charan Singh and had done nothing for the farmers.

"BJP's promise to provide one and a half time of the cost of farming to the farmers was just a jumla and now the agriculture sector is the most affected sector in this BJP regime," he claimed. Several other senior leaders of the alliance along with candidates of the eight seats of the alliance were present on the dais. (UNI)
