Deoria, Mar 21: Senior BJP leader and Member of Parliament (MP) from Deoria seat in Uttar Pradesh Kalraj Mishra on the occasion of Holi announced that he would not contest the Lok Sabha (LS) polls this time.
Mr Mishra had won the Deoria LS seat in 2014 and was made the Union Cabinet Minister. Presently Mr Mishra has been made an in-charge of Haryana and Maharastra for the LS polls.
Announcing his decision not to contest the polls, Mr Mishra told UNI on Thursday that as he is busy in the organising hence he has decided not to contest the polls.
" I have informed my decision to the party high command," he added.
The BJP leader said that as he has got the responsibility of Haryana and Maharashtra for the LS polls so it would be hard to contest the polls this time.
It was in the news that Mr Mishra would not be given ticket in this elections as he had crossed 75 years of age. (UNI)
