Lucknow, Mar 2: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati is scheduled to hold an important meeting with all party coordinators on Sunday to finalise candidates' list for the upcoming general elections.
The BSP president reached Lucknow on Friday after a gap of 45 days.
Ms Mayawati has appointed the Lok Sabha in-charge in several constituencies, who are the probable candidates, sources in the party said. "The party candidates have already commenced campaigning and now it is just a formality to announce the name of candidates," the sources said.
BSP will contest 38 of the total 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh and rest 37 will be contested by its ally SP with two -- Rae Bareli and Amethi left for the Congress and three for the RLD. Earlier, after the SP-BSP pre-poll alliance was announced on January 12, a probable list of the BSP candidates was released, but BSP termed it as fake. UNI
