UP sets Guinness record by longest parade of buses during Kumbh

Prayagraj, Feb 28:The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday created a Guinness World Record by parading a fleet of 509 buses at the Kumbh mela, breaking the record of Abu Dhabi.

According to official sources, 509 Kumbh shuttle buses, in a 9 kilometer long convoy, covered 12 kilometers of journey at one go. The Guinness book of world records for the longest parade of shuttle buses of 509 buses being held on Thursday at Prayagraj beating the record of Abu Dhabi of 390 buses, the officials claimed.

"This is demonstrating the traffic plan which worked every well during the mela of 1,300 hectare parking, 20,000 police personnel being deployed, 1000 plus e-rickshaws, 500 shuttle buses, 18 satellite towns and others held at NH 19 between Sahson toll and Nawabganj toll plaza.

The records are being attempted by Kumbh Mela in partnership of UPSRTC. Over 20 crore pilgrims have visited Kumbh mela here since Makar Sankranti held on January 15.

Tomorrow, 6000 painters , who were the part of My Paint City scheme, will sit together at Ganga Pandal to sketch in presence of officials of the Guinness book of records. Two other records are expected to be set in the next two days.

On Friday, 6,000 artists will paint on canvass at the Ganga pandal in the Kumbh Mela area, while on Saturday, 10,000 workers would clean the Kumbh mela area, including ghats and other places, at the same time. (UNI)
