Balrampur, Feb 21 : A Congress leader was attacked while he was conversing with his acquaintance in the Chowk police station area of this district in Uttar Pradesh, police said on Thursday.
A case against two people has also been registered in this connection by the police. According to police, Shiv Lal, who is a member of All India Congress Committee (AICC) and a Dalit leader, was attacked by Ajay Rastogi and Naman Rastogi when the former was talking to his acquaintance on Wednesday night. It has also been alleged that the accused made objectionable remarks based on caste lines against Mr Shiv Lal.
Sources added that the Congress leader received many injuries in this attack. On a written complaint by the AICC member, the police has registered a case against the duo under the provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and other sections. (UNI)
