3 more hospitalised after consuming illicit liquor, 47 policemen sent to police line

Kushinagar, Feb 10: Taking stringent action against policemen deployed in the areas, from where patients of hooch tragedy were constantly getting admitted to hospitals, the district administration has sent 47 policemen to police lines.

Three new patients- Yogesh (33), Chandradev (63) and Santosh (20) were admitted to Kamkuhiraj Community Health Centre after consuming illicit liquor on Sunday, while four patients admitted earlier in the district hospital, were stated to be in a critical condition.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Gorakhpur zone J N Singh and Commissioner Amit Gupta visited the affected areas and sent 47 policemen, including eight sub-inspectors, who were posted at Taryasujan police station and outpost for more than one month, to police line.

IG Singh said that Jawahi Dayal Chainpatti, Khalwa Tola and Khairtiya were most affected areas in the district. Out of 11 people who died yesterday, nine lost their lives after consuming the illicit liquor, while two died due to other diseases. All possible support will be extended to the families of affected persons, the IG assured.

Superintendent of Police Rajeev Narayan Mishra said that eight sub-inspectors, 17 head constables, 21 constables and drivers were sent to police line, adding that vacant posts will be filled shortly. (UNI)
