Akhilesh slams BJP govt over hooch deaths in Uttar Pradesh

Agency News

Lucknow, Feb 8 : Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday slammed the BJP government in the state over the death of several people after consuming spurious liquor in Kushinagar and Saharanpur districts.

"No political parties except the ruling BJP is responsible for the deaths of people after they consumed spurious liquor. The government very well knows who are behind the racket but they are keeping mum as several BJP leaders are involved in it," he said.

Talking to media here on Friday, Mr Yadav, tried to avoid to reply on the issue of the Supreme Court direction to BSP supreme Mayawati over her statues. "This is a legal matter and the lawyers of the BSP president will give its reply to the court," the former CM said.

The SP president also blamed the BJP for the roaster system in the appointment of teachers in the government colleges and institutions alleging that it has denied reservation to the dalits and the backwards.

"I have already announced while taking a dip in the Sangam during the Kumbh that whenever SP comes to power, a caste census would be done so that the dalits and backwards get their due representation in the reservation," he said.

Slamming the Yogi government on the budgetary proposals, he said that there was not a single new scheme or project of the BJP government. " All the projects of the previous SP government had been grabbed by the BJP with terming them as their own baby, " Mr Yadav alleged.

" The government could not give any figures of the employment generated during their two year rule which proved that they have failed to deliver," he said.

To a query about the improved power situation by the BJP government in the state, the SP president said," a mahant is speaking total lie. He is saying that during SP regime just five places received power. They should release a white paper on the power distribution during the SP regime," he said.

Meanwhile, several senior leaders and former legislators have joined the SP in presence of Mr Yadav. The leaders who joined the SP include Akhilesh Katiyar, former legislators Sashi Bala and Ajay Kumara Baghi.

"These leaders are welcomed in the party and they will ride bi-cycle to defeat the BJP in the Lok Sabha polls," the former CM added. (UNI)
