Lucknow, Feb 5: A Samajwadi Party MLA from Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh suffered a brain hemorrhage in the middle of protests staged against the Yogi Adityanath government during the Governor's address in the state Assembly on Tuesday.
Mr Suhbhas Pasi was immediately rushed to the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Civic hospital, from where he was referred to the Trauma Centre of King George Medical Centre of the state capital. His condition continues to be critical.
A group of SP MLAs, along with Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Congress, were protesting against the degrading law and order situation, the prevailing unemployment and agrarian crisis in the state during the Governor's address when suddenly the MLA collapsed.
As soon as the Governor began to address the crowd, SP and BSP MLAs erupted into protests and hurled paper balls at him.
The MLAs gathered at the well of the house, then started raising slogans. In the middle of the protest, Mr Pasi fainted and collapsed on the ground. The SP MLAs immediately rushed him to the Assembly lobby and doctor was called. Later, he was rushed to the hospital in the ambulance.
The Dalit leader had won the UP state Assembly elections in 2012 and 2017 from Saidpur seat of Ghazipur on an SP ticket. (UNI)
