Lucknow, Dec 6 : Bahraich MP Savitri Bai Phule resigned from the Bhartiya Janata Party on Thursday saying the party was against the Dalits.
Known for cornering the Centre as well as the state governments by her controversial statements, Ms Phule stepped down from the party on Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s death anniversary.
Lashing out at the BJP, she alleged that the BJP was against the Dalits, backward classes and the minority community and wanted to rule the nation according to the ‘Manusmriti’.
She also alleged that the party was attempting to end the reservation system. (UNI)
