Rae Bareli, Oct11: Train services on the Lucknow-Rae Bareli route is yet to be normalised on Thursday after nine coaches of New Farakka express train derailed near Harchandpur station on Wednesday morning in which seven passengers were killed.
After 24 hours, one track of the section has been repaired and opened for traffic.
However, second and third track sections would be opened by tonight, said a senior railway officials here monitoring the repair work.
A goods train was allowed to cross the repaired track at a speed of 20 kms at around 0820 hrs.
As a precautionary measure, several trains have been cancelled for the second day on Thursday.
The worst affected are the passengers travelling between Lucknow and Allahabad as four pair of trains have been cancelled.
A team of the railway safety commissioner have commenced their probe to find out the reason behind the derailment.
Now the data logger of the Harchandpur station would give the real reason that why the train was put on loop line even after giving green signal for the main line.
The team have recorded the statements of the suspended driver and assistant station master of the ill-fated express train.
Sources said that preliminary probe suggested that it could be problem of the point which caused the malfunction resulting into tragic incident. (UNI)
