Lucknow, Oct 1: Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav have condemned the killing of Apple executive Vivek Tiwari by Uttar Pradesh police constable and have demanded stringent action against the erring policemen.
They have also said that the compensation announced by the government was inadequate and demanded that the probe of the murder should be headed by a high court judge or by the CBI.
On the other hand, the ruling BJP which came on a back-foot after the killing of Vivek Tiwari, made a bold face on Monday when widow Kalpana Tiwari ,of the deceased expressed that she was satisfied with the UP government. UP BJP president Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey on Monday has asked the party leaders not to give any statement on the issue which can create further controversy.
Since past couple of days, the UP government had to face the wrath from its own leader and ministers over the killing of Vivek Tiwari when they are question the role of the state police. BSP Chief Mayawati in a statement here on Monday said "If I were the Chief Minister, I would have first taken action against the involved cops, and only then met the victim family. Not the other way round like the CM did."
Ms Mayawati while condemning the incident said that jungle raj prevails in the state and the present BJP government has no control over its police system. "Aisa lag raha hai ki Uttar Pradesh mein kanoon vyavastha poori tarah dhawast ho chuki hai( It seems that law and order has totally collapsed in the state)," she further said.
Ms Mayawati said that this BJP government has no moral right to continue when it cannot protect the life of the people. The BSP president had also sent party's general secretary Satish Chandra Mishra to meet the family members of Vivek Tiwari in Lucknow. Mr Mishra too said that the SIT probing the murder should be headed by a judge of the high court.
Meanwhile SP president Akhilesh Yadav slammed the Yogi Adityanath government for the cold blood murder of the Apple executive and demanded that the family should be given Rs 5 crore compensation.
" The government was patting its back on the encounters in the state and now people had seen the real face of the government. A probe should be ordered in all the encounters occurred during the present BJP government and the family members of the deceased killed in the encounters should be given financial compensation," he said while talking to reporters here on Monday.
He said when police is being deployed to protect the people and it start killing them ,then what will happen in the society." This BJP government in UP was trying to create fear among the people so that no one can challenge them," he said. (UNI)
