Ayodhya, Sep 5: Seven pilgrims were feared dead, when a boat capsized mid-stream in Saryu here on Wednesday.
However, officials said that two bodies have been recovered, so far. But still, five people were missing after two were rescued by the local people. Police said the incident occurred near Kaccha ghat, when the boat carrying nine pilgrims overturned.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his grief over the death of pilgrims in Saryu and announced an ex-gratia of Rs four lakh each to the families of the deceased.
The Chief Minister also directed the Faizabad district authorities to step up their efforts to trace out the remaining people drowned in the boat mishap and instructed all the districts of the state to prevent such incidents in their area. (UNI)
