Agartala, Jun 1 : Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today credited Swatch Bharat Abhiyan (SBA) and Digital India Movement of Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre with containing Covid-19 pandemic in the country, which European countries and America failed.

Addressing the media Deb said, “India-like multilingual, multicultural and multi-facial country did exceptionally good to prevent the spread of coronavirus. In the last five years, people of the country learned maintaining personal hygiene through SBA that helps us to fight against Covid-19. Taking advantage of digital transaction and governance, poor people are getting prompt assistance and immediate support in Covid-19 like critical situation.”

He appreciated the people of Tripura as well as the country for responding well to the Prime Minister's call of maintaining social distancing, following curfew rules and other steps to fight against Covid-19 and said, “Even the man residing at last mile is now acquainted with digital transaction and use of digital communication tools. As a result, thousands of people of Tripura stranded outside did not face much problem – we not only provided financial assistance through their accounts but also managed their hassle-free evacuation.”

Deb, however, said despite having a wide social divide, economic disparity and large geographical variation because of good practices in social life and governance adopted by the Modiled government, Covid could not do much harm to Indians and hopefully with the active participation of everyone India will stand apart in the world. “The causality and effect of Covid in India is much lesser than Europe and America,” Deb claimed. He pointed out that by launching the Ayushman Bharat scheme Modi led government has ensured affordable treatment facilities for all like developed nations, which had been a dream for Indians. (UNI)
