Agartala, May 27 : The heavy pre-monsoon showers coupled with squall and thunderstorm since early this morning paralyzed normal life in Tripura. The movement of good trains and special train with migrant workers were also delayed. Power supply and water supply have been affected severely across the state after transmission lines were snapped.
Trees have been uprooted in the capital city and blocked the national highways in multiple locations. The markets also could not open. The low-lying areas of most of the towns faced water logging problems due to over flow from storm water and sewerage drains in urban areas. Frequent rainfalls since last night has compelled people to remain confined at home. However, the meteorological department forecast heavy showers and thunderstorms in the state in the next 48 hrs.
