Agartala, May 16: As many as 11 more people, including four civilians, who travelled back from Assam tested Covid-19 positive today, taking the tally to 167 so far in Tripura in past five weeks. However, there was no report of death related to Covid and 42 persons, including 40 BSF personnel, have recovered so far.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb,who is also in charge of health, this morning stated that as many as 625 samples were put for Covid-19 test last night and the results came today. Among them seven persons from BSF 86th battalion in Dhalai district, two drivers who came with vehicles from outside the state, and two residents of Tripura returned from Guwahati were found positive. The samples of four civilians who were found Covid positive, were collected at Assam-Tripura border at Churaibari in North Tripura and from there they were taken to facility quarantine.
As per the standard protocol of handling people coming from other states, the Tripura government has been sending all the people to institutional quarantine if they come by road until the test reports come, officials said. Meanwhile, the people travelling by trains were screened at Agartala railway station and only asymptomatic patients were released for 14 days mandatory home quarantine along with all the family members and symptomatic patients were taken to facility quarantine.(UNI)
