Smartphone among students, process started in Tripura

Agartala, May 7 : Step toward the pre-poll commitment of BJP, Tripura government has started the process for distribution of 14,608 smartphones among final year students of different degree colleges, Universities, and government-run technical institutions.

The Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb yesterday opened an online portal for registration of names of potential recipients of free smartphones. According to the promise made in the vision document, all the youths of the state are entitled to receive free smart mobiles from the state government. In a simple program in the secretariat the portal for the registration by the aspiring students was launched by the chief minister.

He said the registration of names through applications will be done between up to June 6 while the verification of identities of applicants will be completed by June 15. The approval for the applications will be granted between June 30 next and upon completion of the process direct benefit transfers of Rs 5,000 for each applicant. (UNI)
