Tripura CM's night walk becomes threat for criminals

Agartala, Mar 19 : Add to the ongoing surprise of uninvited Sunday lunch to unknown house, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb announced to make night walk in the city without any schedule to ensure the safety of the citizens.

The decision assumes to be significant in the recent spurt of criminal activities in different parts of the city and the state as well where police have been accused of not taking timely action. Chief Minister has been undertaking a practice for last two days to walk on the street and told media, “I want to ensure my citizens to sleep quietly, as long as I am there. My walk will help to keep me fit and also a threat to the mischievous elements to stay away from crime.”

Deb for the second day on Wednesday after completion of his routine office work went for an evening walk but today in New Secretariat Complex and had noticed some suspicious activity inside a car taking advantage of the darkness in a corner and action was taken. He warned the top brasses of police to be careful about such activities and to ensure full security to the citizens.

“In the night walk, I got a feel of the ground reality and took note of the existing law and order in Agartala. I will continue this routine and in coming days shall walk in different areas, so that I can get to know the reality. I would love to walk an extra mile so that the people of Tripura can have a sound sleep without any worries," Deb stated. (UNI)
