Six Tripura panchayats receives award

Agartala, Oct 26 : The Union Ministry of Panchayat Raj has conferred award on six panchayats of Tripura for 2019 in recognition of the good work done for improving delivery of services and public goods.

According to the report, three of the awarded panchayats are from Gomati district while one each from West, North and Khowai district, which has been instituted during the year 2018-19 for best performing GPs/Village Councils (VCs) for adopting child-friendly practices.

The Chandrapur GP of Matabari block under Gomati district won Child Friendly Gram Panchayat. This award Madhya Singichhera under Khowai block in Khowai district bagged Nanaji Deshmukh Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Sabha Puraskar. This award has been given to Gram Panchayats (GPs) for their outstanding contribution to the socio-economic development by involving Gram Sabhas.

Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Sashaktikaran Puraskar (DDU PSP) was given to best performing Panchayats (District, Intermediate and Gram) under general category. The district level Puruskar went to West Tripura while Kadamtala block under North district bagged the award. At the gram level, Atharabola and Noabari village councils under Killa Block in Gomati district were awarded.

In total 240 panchayats out of total 2.5 lakh panchayats across the country were conferred the National Panchayat Awards 2019. Union Minister for Panchayati Raj Narendra Singh Tomar conferred the awards. Congratulating the award winners, Narendra Singh Tomar called upon every panchayat to move ahead for making a new India.
