Agartala, Sept 21 : The opposition CPI (M) has accused Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb of practicing vendetta politics and harassing their leaders on fabricated charges of corruption without any basis referring to the ongoing vigilance enquiry against former PWD minister and present MLA Badal Choudhury.

Talking to media, Choudhury alleged that the state government has misconceived the process of vigilance enquiry and it was undermining the legislatures and assembly. He was accused of misappropriating Rs 859 Cr for various construction purposes in 2008 and he appeared thrice before the investigating agency so far.

He argued that the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Tripura Legislative had rejected the alleged scam of PWD in 2008 during the left front government and it has clearly mentioned that no scams were found during the scrutiny. Even then, vigilance enquiry has been continuing violating the legislative norms and practices.

The Public Accounts Committee had examined all the functions of the Department of Finance from 2008-2009 to 2013-2014 but did not raise any objection followed by Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) have verified the Department's explanation in conjunction with the report.

He pointed out that PAC was constituted with the MLAs of ruling BJP and IPFT where CPI (M) has also the representation. He said there is no need or any scope for a vigilance inquiry against any decision made by PAC.(UNI)
