Agartala, Jul 9 : The BJP state committee today demanded legal actions against the Left Front Convener Bijan Dhar for willfully instigating communal tension following political violence in North Tripura on July 7 last where at least 23 BJP supporters were injured allegedly by CPI (M) cadres.

The BJP Spokesperson Dr Ashok Sinha alleged that Dhar in a TV channel stated that BJP workers had set a mosque on fire in West Chandrapur when villagers had attacked them. According to Sinha, the statement was absolutely false. It was a well-planned conspiracy to trigger religious conflicts in the state.

“Such baseless statement on sensitive issue instigated the rumour monger and became an issue now. As per law Dhar’s statement attracts legal action and might lead to six years of imprisonment,” Dhar alleged adding that Bijan Dhar has to be booked under section 153 (A) and 505 of Indian Panel Code (IPC).

In all the elections, in the recent past from Assembly to Lok Sabha and also in the ensuing Panchayat polls, Left Front seemed to have lost its foothold. Desperate they are now hell bent to create problems in the state and trying to catch fish in troubled water, Dr Sinha pointed out. (UNI)
