CPI (M) MP attacked, one arrested in Tripura

Agartala, Mar 28 : The CPI (M) Tripura state committee today alleged that convoy and campaign vehicles of CPI (M) candidate for West Tripura parliamentary constituency Shankar Prasad Datta were attacked at Dataram Bazar of Udaipur in Gomati district last night.

However, police denied the incident of attack and said a person has been arrested in connection with pelting a stone on the campaign vehicle of Datta. The same person was also accused of attacking the vehicles of BJP MLA Biplab Ghosh in last assembly election that time he was identified as CPI (M) cadre but police could not arrest him that time.

Police arrested one Prahlad Debnath (36) last night and an investigation has been launched against others.

Police said when MPs convoy was returning from the program Debnath and two other pelted stone that caused minor damage of a vehicle but there was no report of any injuries of person.

Meanwhile, CPI (M) alleged Datta despite repeated appeals to the Election Commission of India (ECI) the miscreants of the ruling party have once again ransacked a number of their vehicles during their campaign and stated that the miscreants took the advantage of inadequate security.

Datta said that they had sought the intervention of ECI to create conducive atmosphere and rules of democracy in Tripura before the Lok Sabha elections and had requested the ECI to 'protect the democracy in Tripura' and make LS polls a farce free but it has not yet been happened. (UNI)
