Two urban bodies in Tripura win award for fast development

Agartala, Mar 7: Two municipalities of Tripura have been awarded in the category of fast growing town of the country in a mega event yesterday at Vigyan Bhawan New Delhi.

President of India Ramnath Kovind awarded Sonamura Nagar panchayat and Udaipur Municipal Council of Tripura along with others as Swachh City in the national ceremony of Swacch Sarvekshan Award 2019.

Officials here today said the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs had conducted the biggest survey in the world ever done in which more than 4,500 cities across country were enrolled online on Swachh Sarvekshan portal of the ministry.

While Sonamura Nagar panchayat received Swachh City Award for being the fastest moving city in Northeast, Udaipur Municipal Council got Swachh City Award for being the best city in innovation and best practices in North East Zone.

Chief Resident Commissioner Tripura Bhawan in New Delhi GSG Ayyangar and Director of Urban Development Milind Ramteke received the award on behalf of the State and underlined the commitment of Tripura Government to realise dream of the Chief Minister to make the State a model of development in three years.
