Agartala, Dec 6: The Supreme Court collegium yesterday remitted to Chief Justice of Tripura on the proposal for elevation of state judicial service officer Data Mohan Jamatia as a judge in High Court of Tripura.
Along with Jamatia, collegium has also remitted the proposal of elevation of three advocates of Chhattisgarh high court – Abhishek Kumar Sinha, Ashish Kumar Srivastava and Sunil Pillai.
“The proposal was carefully scrutinised including the observations made by Department of Justice therein and views of our consultee colleagues. Having regard to all relevant factors, the collegium is of the view that the proposal for elevation of Jamatia to high court judge deserves to be remitted to the Chief Justice of Tripura High Court,” collegium mentioned in an order.
The proposal for elevation of Jamatia was sent to Supreme Court collegium in April last year and it was put up to the collegium in November last year for consideration where it was deferred and now the proposal has been remitted to the high court of Tripura.
Tripura high court has shortage of a judge over a year, which affecting the functioning of the court. (UNI)
