Agartala, Aug 6: Social activist and chief of National Alliance of People’s Movement Medha Patkar alleged that the situation of Tripura under BJP rule is like undeclared emergency where opposition has been facing undemocratic action from the government and ruling party.

She was part of the left MPs delegation in the state and said they would come out with a detailed report and will take up all these issues including the violation of VI Schedule and the representation of the People Act and the violation of Article 14 and Article 21 with the central government.

Medha Patkar said, “It is clear that an undeclared emergency like situation prevails in the state ever since the BJP-IPFT combine won the last state assembly elections on March this year and law and order has collapsed.

The murder, dacoity, looting, arson and atrocities on women, minorities, dalits, adivasis and the poor from all communities are rampant.

No action is taken by the administration and the police in spite of hundreds of FIRs having been filed by the victims, she alleged. (UNI)
