Thieves robbed Laxmi Narayan Temple, one of the holiest spots of the city, and took away gold ornaments worth of Rs 60 lakh weighing 87 gram, last night.
Police said, the stolen ornaments included six crown and some bangles and other items. The incident was reported when the guard woke up in the morning and found main entrance of the temple was broken.
The guard raised alarm and priests were informed immediately. The police came in the morning with dog squad. Based on the clues, police was able to recover four gold crowns and two gold bangles from another location of the city but police did not disclose the details.
The Superintendent of Police (SP) West Tripura Ajit Pratap Singh said that investigation has been progressing well and all police stations and outposts were alerted immediately after the theft incident reported.
Nobody has been arrested but nobody in case yet."We are hopeful of recovering all the ornaments very shortly," the SP said. (UNI)
