Hyderabad, May 18 : Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has instructed the officials concerned to fill up tanks under the irrigation projects limits on a priority basis, when the water gets pumped from it during the Monsoon. For this, the Chief Minister wanted all the channels (OTs) Distributary canals of the project canals should be completed on a war footing. He held a high-level review meeting at Pragathi Bhavan here on Sunday on the strategy to be adapted this Monsoon for the Godavari river catchments area.
A statement from the Chief Minister’s Office here said last night that, Mr Rao said at all the projects, river gaze should be established and utilising the latest modern technology, Real Time Data Operating System should be created. He urged that every drop of water of the irrigation projects, which have been constructed after spending thousands of Crores, should be well utilised. The entire matter of the irrigation should be brought under one umbrella, he added. The Chief Minister instructed that based on the irrigation projects geographical location, the Irrigation department should be revamped. O&M Manual for each and every project’s maintenance should be prepared, he said. Mr Rao also instructed that the construction of all pumps under Kaleshwaram project should be completed by May end and water should be pumped till Konda Pochamma Sagar till then.
The Chief Minister said all the illegal encroachments of the irrigation department’s lands and embankments should be viewed seriously. Ministers K T Rama Rao, Etela Rajender, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Jagdeesh Reddy, Prashanth Reddy, Indrakaran Reddy, Gangula Kamalakar, Niranjan Reddy, Ms Satyavathi Rathod, Rythu Bandhu Samithi State President Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, Principal Secretary (Irrigation) Rajat Kumar, CMO Secretary Smita Sabharwal, OSD Sridhar Deshpande, E-in-Cs Muralidhar Rao, Nagender Rao, Anil Kumar, Venkateswarlu, Hariram, Chief Engineers Shankar, Bangaraiah, Madhusudhan Rao participated in the meeting. The Chief Minister also inquired about the situation of every project under the Godavari basin, how much water to be supplied to the Ayacut in the Monsoon season. In this context, the Chief Minister issued several instructions and made suggestions to the officers, the statement added. (UNI)
