Hyderabad, May 13 : Telangana on Wednesday reported two more deaths and 41 new cases including 10 migrant workers, who had returned to the state from across the country. The total number of cases in the state stood at 1367 and the toll was 34, State Medical and Health Department said in its bulletin here. Of the fresh cases, the remaining 31 cases were all reported from Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Limits, the worst affected among all the districts.
So far, 35 migrant labourers have been tested positive for COVID-19. Of the overall positive cases, 117 people were discharged from hospital on Wednesday and with this, the number of those discharged rose to 939 while the state now has 394 active cases The Health department also said that the evacuees from other countries that are arriving at Hyderabad by designated flights are being screened at the airports and the symptomatic persons are tested for Covid-19. All migrants arriving by road and rail are being screened for symptoms at railway stations and at road border check posts.
The asymptomatic migrants arriving in Telangana through various points of entry are quarantined at home and in government quarantine facilities. The symptomatic migrants are isolated and tested and for further course of action, the department said. The general public are requested to inform the local authorities in case they identify any new persons, migrants who have newly arrived in the towns and villages, it said. (UNI)
