Hyderabad, May 12 : Fourteen workers, who had returned to the state from across the country, were among 51 people who tested positive for Covid-19 in Telangana on Tuesday, taking the state's tally to 1326. Two more virus deaths were also reported on Tuesday, taking the toll in the state to 32, the State Medical and Health Department said in its bulletin here this evening.
Of the 51 new cases, 37 cases were all reported from Greater Hyderabad, the worst affected among all the districts in the state. Large number of migrant populations are entering the state from across the country. Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao has instructed the state officials to ensure that the asymptomatic migrants arriving in Telangana through various points of entry are quarantined at home and in government quarantine facilities. The symptomatic migrants will be isolated for diagnostic tests and for further course of action.
Till date 25 migrants have been tested positive for Covid-19. The general public are requested to inform the local authorities in case they identify any new persons, migrants who have recently arrived in the towns and villages. To screen the migrants entering into the state, 275 health teams consisting of about 100 health personnel, have been deployed at 87 check posts in the border districts. (UNI)
