Hyderabad, May 12: Civil Supplies Corporation chairman Mareddy Srinivas Reddy on Tuesday said he organization had achieved a record by making the highest procurement of paddy in the last fiscal during Yasangi season. He said that it purchased Rs 7,129 crore worth 39 lakh tonnes of paddy from 7 lakh farmers and paid Rs 3,715 crore into their accounts directly.
The previous highest purchase in Yasangi season was in 2016-17 with 37.21 lakh tonnes and in the last financial year it was 7.05 lakh tonnes. But, this year in a short period of one month time this landmark was crossed, he added.
In this Covid-19 pandemic situation, even with no support from the Central Government, Telangana civil supplies overcame the shortage of gunny bags, he said. (UNI)
