TSRTC strike enters 26th day, longest so far

Hyderabad, Oct 30: The indefinite strike by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation employees entered the 26th day on Wednesday, said to be the longest bus strike in the state so far.

As part of the strike pressing the main demand of the merger of the corporation with the government, the Joint Action Committee, which is spearheading the agitation, organised "Sakala Janula Samme” (rally) at Saroornagar Stadium Wednesday afternoon.

The samme being supported by various opposition parties is attended by a large number of RTC employees and their family members, The High court had permitted the JAC to hold the samme from 3pm to 6pm after the government had denied permission for the rally.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister K Chanrasekhar Rao conducted a review meeting with transport minister Puvada Ajay and top government and the corporation officials and discussed the contingency plans to cope with the strike and the government's views to be presented before the court.

The High court on Tuesday had directed the TSRTC Managing Director to file an affidavit on the government's claim that it had overpaid the corporation. (UNI)
