Hyderabad, Oct 24: Putting up a fine show in the byelection held on October 21, the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) scored a spectacular victory in the Huzurnagar Assembly constituency by wresting the seat from the Congress on Thursday.
TRS candidate S.Saidhi won the seat by a huge margin of over 40,000 votes trouncing his nearest Congress rival N.Padmavathi.
Mr Reddy who had lost to TPCC President N.Uttam Kumar Reddy in the 2018 Assembly election in the state established the lead right from the first round and maintained it till he romped home comfortably.
The by-election for the seat was necessitated after Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy vacated it following his election to Lok Sabha from Nalgonda Constituency in April this year. Commenting on his victory, Mr Saidhi said ''the by-poll result showed that the people were with the TRS Supremo and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao''.
Joyous scenes were seen at the Telangana Bhavan, the TRS headquarters in Banjara Hills area of Hyderabad where a large number of party leaders and cadre gathered to celebrate the party's grand showing in the by-poll by bursting crackers and distributing sweets. (UNI)
