Hyderabad, Oct 23 : The indefinite strike by the employees of the loss-making Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has entered the 19th day on Wednesday even as the travelling public continued to suffer.
As part of the contingency plan, the Corporation is operating skeletal services with the help of temporary drivers and conductors but the services are not able to cope with the huge demand. Overcrowded buses with passengers travelling standing precariously on the foot board has become a common sight in the state capital.
The striking employees continued their agitation by staging dharnas near the depots and "rasta roko" in different parts of the state. The government, meanwhile, has decided to constitute a high level committee comprising senior officials to examine the 21 demands of the striking employees except the merger of the corporation with the government, which is the main demand of the agitating employees.
