Hyderabad, Oct 18 : Even as the Indefinite strike by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation employees entered the 14th day on Friday, Mr Ashvathama Reddy, Convener of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) was arrested.
Mr Reddy along with some other JAC leaders was arrested when they set to take part in a two-wheeler rally called by the left parties in support of the strike.
Talking to media at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram, the CPI (M) state office, where Mr Reddy was arrested, said that the government should give up its tough stand and invite striking employees for talks to resolve the crisis. Meanwhile, the striking employees took out rallies and staged dharnas in front of depots all over the state pressing for their demands including merger of the corporation with the government.
As the majority of the corporation fleet remained confined to the depots due to the strike,the travelling public continued to face hardships in reaching their destinations. Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan had on Thursday took stock of the situation arising out of the strike and reviewed the issue with top officials. (UNI)
