Hyderabad, Sep 20 : Telangana Industry Minister K T Rama Rao informed the Assembly on Friday that the government has prepared a draft Food Processing Policy aimed to promote food processing industry in the state.
Replying to questions from members in the house during question hour, Mr Rao said a draft Food Processing Policy that aimed to promote food processing industry in the state has been prepared and it was under consideration by the concerned Departments.
The Minister said that a through evaluation of the gaps and opportunities in each constituency has been conducted on (Food Map). Accordingly food processing units in each Constituency would be promoted by private entrepreneurs, farmer producer groups and various government agencies, he said.
After approval of the proposed food processing policy by the Cabinet, the Minister said, the state government would encourage development of food processing industries during the next four years in a phased manner.
Stating that the food processing industry would be established with an integrated model, Mr Rao said several private industries including ITC, Coca-Cola were coming forward with huge investments to establish food processing industries in the state. (UNI)
