Hyderabad, Sep 8 : The 12-member Telangana cabinet headed by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was expanded with the induction of six new ministers on Sunday.
The new incumbents were sworn-in at a Raj Bhavan function by Governor Tamilisai Soundarajan who took charge earlier in the day. The new ministers are ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti(TRS) working President K T Rama Rao,T Harish Rao,Sabitha Indra Reddy,Satyavathi Rathore,G Kamalakar and P Ajay Kumar.
Both Mr Taraka Rama Rao and Mr Harish Rao had served as ministers in the previous cabinet of KCR (as the Chief minister is popularly known). Ms Sabitha Reddy,a five-time Congress MLA, had served as the first woman home minister in Y S Rajashekhar Reddy cabinet in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh.She had joined the TRS on the eve of the last Lok sabha elections.
While the four ministers are members of the Legislative Assembly representing different constituencies, Ms Satyavathi Rathore is a member of the Upper House Legislative Council. This is the first time that the KCR Cabinet has women representation with the induction of Ms Sabitha Reddy and Ms Rathore.
People's representatives including ministers,top officials were among the large number of prominent people who attended the brief swearing-in ceremony.
With the induction of new ministers ,the strength of the KCR Cabinet goes up to 18. (UNI)
