Hyderabad, Sep 3 : Telangana BJP unit President Dr K Laxman on Tuesday demanded the state government to extend support to the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) which is running a huge loss of more than Rs 3300 crore.
Talking to newsmen at BJP state headquaters here, Dr Laxman said the TSRTC is a public transport system and running a huge loss. However, the state government was not taking any action to ensure the Corporation survives.
Criticizing the TRS government led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao who is claiming that the Telangana is a rich state, Dr Laxman said the state government was not in a position to give salaries to the employees and implementing the welfare schemes in time.
Dr Laxman said that after division of the RTC (AP and Telangana) in 2015, TSRTC had 240 crore loss. Within five years, the losses were mounted to Rs 3380 crore. In 2018-19 itself the Corporation incurred loss of Rs 920 crore. It shows how the state government was taking necessary steps to bring the RTC out of losses, he said,
When private buses were running huge profits in the state, why RTC running losses, he questioned and said that TSRTC has 364 bus stations, 94 depots, 24 divisions, 11 regions. It also running 10,400 buses in the state. 98 lakh people were travelling in the RTC buses, Mr Laxman said.
Stating that the Corporation had also utilized Rs 1200 crore meant for the Provident Fund and Pension amount, Dr Laxman said the retired workers were not getting their retirement benefits event after years together.
Demanding the state government to clear Rs 1000 crore which is due to RTC, Dr Laxman criticized it for not taking any action when the RTC union leaders were urging the government to come to their rescue. Moreover, the Chief Minister also threatening that the Corporation will be privatized, he said the BJP will never allow privatization of RTC.(UNI)
