Hyderabad, Sep 2 : Former Minister and TRS leader Chruku Muthyam Reddy passed away at a private hospital here on Monday, due to prolonged illness. He was 75 years old. He was a four-time MLA from Dubbak and Dommata Assembly constituencies and joined TRS party last year from Congress after disappointed by the decision to allot the seat to the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) as part of the seat sharing. Reddy was elected thrice from Dommata in 1989, 94 and 99, but lost the 2004 general election and 2008 by-poll election.
Contesting on the Congress ticket, he had won the seat in 2009 after two decades. However, he had lost to the TRS MLA Solipeta Ramalinga Reddy in 2014 elections. He served as Minister for civil supplies in N Chandrababu Naidu’s cabinet (under United Andhra Pradesh) during 1999-2003. Reddy, who hails from Tukkapur village of Thoguta mandal of Siddipet district, had a close bond with the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar too as both had worked in the TDP earlier.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister while expressing his shock over the demise, conveyed his condolences to the members of the bereaved family. The CM instructed the Chief Secretary to conduct his last rites with full state honours. “It was unfortunate that efforts put in to save Reddy, who was suffering from ill health, have failed", he added.UNI
