Hyderabad, Aug 24 : South Central Railway (SCR) has intensified massive special drives against touts and unauthorized agents at all reservation offices and travel agencies in major stations, in order to curtail the touting activities.
Accordingly, Railway Protection Force (RPF) conducted special raids on August 22 and 23, an SCR statement here said on Saturday.
The special raids were conducted at 49 different locations all over the zone.
In the operation 281 live tickets and 772 used tickets a total worth of Rs 8,83,915 which were booked by the touts on commission basis were seized and 49 touts have been apprehended.
The drives are intended to save the passengers from black marketing of tickets and also arresting the loss of Revenue to the Indian Railways as the touts are carrying business without a license from Indian Railways.
RPF is committed to take stringent action against touting activities, the statement said.
Passengers are also requested to purchase tickets from reservation counters and authorized travel agents only. If any person notices the selling of tickets by unauthorized persons, they may be pleased to report to Railway authorities.
