Hyderabad, Jul 28 : One person was arrested and seized 1920 oxytocin bottles from his possession, police said here on Sunday.
The accused was identified as Mohammed Ismail (35) of Shamrajpur, Bidar district, Karnataka According to them, on a tip-off, the accused was arrested while he was illegally transporting 1920 oxytocin bottles, each with 100 ml quantity, on Saturday. He was handed over to Bahadurpura Police Station for taking further action, police added.
The Union Health Ministry imposed a ban on the retail sale and private manufacture of Oxytocin, a life-saving drug for new mothers. The reason for the ban is the misuse of Oxytocin in dairy animals, like buffaloes, to increase milk production. (UNI)
