Hyderabad, Jun 29 : The city police busted a cricket betting racket by arresting persons, police said here on Saturday.
Police also seized net cash of Rs 2.35 lakh and four cell phones from their possession.
On credible information, South Zone Task Force team arrested Jatin Lodaya (40) of Feelkhana, S Anand (39) of Kharkhana, Sree Kishan (49) of Lalpet and Parvender Singh (33) of Himayat Nagar on Friday, when they were allegedly collecting a huge betting amount from punters in connection with the Cricket World Cup-2019 matches-Sri Lanka versus South Africa.
Main bookie Vishal Lodya of Begumbazar was absconding in the case, police added.
During the World Cup matches, the accused, main bookie Vishal Lodya and the others, were receiving calls from the punters and collecting the betting amounts from punters.
The accused persons along with seized property were handed over to Charminar Police Station for taking further action against them, police added. (UNI)
